Michigan-based bank participated in 7th annual company-wide volunteer day
Independent Bank closed its offices on Columbus Day, October 10, 2022, to participate in its seventh annual all-employee volunteer day. Over 800 Independent Bank employees took part in “Be the Difference Day,” where they volunteered at 80 different projects across Michigan and parts of Ohio. As part of their “Investing in Volunteering” initiative, the Bank also donated $135,000 to the various organizations in which they volunteered. These funds were compiled of employee Jeans Day donations, in which employees contributed funds to wear jeans on Fridays, as well as a match and additional contribution from the Bank.
Every year, employees look forward to this day and the opportunity to give back to their local communities. In Grand Rapids, employees removed invasive species and planted trees with Kent County Parks; in Lansing, employees helped out at Potter Park Zoo; and in Bay City, employees assisted with a fun fair for residents at the Bay County Medical Care Facility.
“This has truly become a day that we look forward to each and every year,” said Brad Kessel, President and CEO of Independent Bank. “I believe volunteering as a team provides us a great opportunity to grow in our relationships, while also making a positive difference in our communities.”
