Independent Bank is currently participating in the FDIC’s #GetBanked Public Awareness Campaign. The initiative was created to help consumers who currently do not have a bank account begin a positive banking relationship.
The three-month campaign will run from February-April, in three metropolitan areas selected by the FDIC, Detroit being one of them. The initiative was created to change the misconceptions about banks, while helping people to see how banks can help meet their financial needs, and potentially saving them money as well as providing them with other benefits.
The three goals of the #GetBanked initiative are to increase consumers’ awareness of secure and affordable bank accounts, help consumers navigate to resources where they can safely open a bank account, and to maximize engagement with local community partners, so consumers know about the resources available to them.
Independent Bank is proud to participate in this campaign, and partner with the FDIC to help consumers in the Detroit market open a new bank account and begin a banking relationship. We are proud to offer our customers the ONE Account, which is free with eStatements, and can earn customers up to 3.00% APY* on their checking account just by using their debit card for purchases they make every day. Independent Bank also offers the Opportunity Checking account, which is specifically designed for customers who have not had a bank account in the past or are looking for a fresh start.
Independent Bank provides several products and services to financially assist customers, including ONE Wallet, enhanced Online and Mobile Banking, that allows customers to complete most of their banking from their computer or mobile device, making it possible to bank when and where they want. Other services provided include overdraft protection solutions; free banking alerts to easily stay on top of their finances; the Club Checking Bundle^, which includes free Roadside Assistance Expense Reimbursement2, cell phone protection+, mobile coupons, and more; as well as the Change It Up savings program that allows customers to easily save by rounding up debit card purchases to the nearest dollar and depositing those funds into their savings account.
