Independent Bank Continues to Make Financial Literacy a Top Priority in 2022

IB Financial Literacy 2022-1Independent Bank is continuing to make Financial Literacy a top priority this year through various programs and special promotions for both children and adults. Providing the tools and resources to help community members start saving, reduce debt, buy homes, and prepare for retirement are just a few of the ways Independent Bank is working to promote the great importance of Financial Literacy in our communities.

April is officially Financial Literacy Month, but Independent Bank is making a commitment to promote these important topics all year long. In April, in honor of Teach Kids to Save Day on April 28, each child who opens a new Swift Savings account at Independent Bank will receive a free eagle plush toy. Kids ages 4-12 will also be automatically enrolled in the Swift Savers Kids Club, where they will receive newsletters with fun savings tips, recipes, crafts, and activities throughout the year to promote Financial Literacy.

Independent Bank is also promoting employees’ volunteer efforts in local schools to teach Financial Literacy. The Bank designed new bookmarks for kids to bring into classrooms with a QR code that will take them (and their parents/guardians) to the Bank’s Financial Literacy page on their website, where they can find helpful saving and budgeting tools, free financial calculators, and much more.

“The encouragement and promotion of Financial Literacy has always been a priority for our team at Independent Bank, and also one of our favorite ways to give back to our communities,” said Brad Kessel, President and CEO of Independent Bank. “This year, we again continue to bring awareness to this important topic, not only in April, but throughout the entire year.”
